Shabbat Services

Shabbat services are currently taking place in a hybrid format, in-person at the Temple and over Zoom. We welcome friends near and far to join us on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. You can find updated guidelines for in-person attendance here. For the Zoom link and password, please contact us at: TempleSholomGalesburg@gmail.com.

Services are held weekly from September through May, and bi-weekly June through August. A schedule of services and other Temple happenings is available in the latest Temple Bulletin.

Temple Sholom is affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism and is served by a visiting rabbi, who leads services on the High Holidays and once per month between September and May. Members of the congregation lead other services. Suggestions for lay-led services can be found here.

The congregation uses the Mishkan Tefilah prayer book. Because of the community’s history and size, we try to be responsive to the various needs and preferences of our members in the worship services. Some members wear kippot and tallitot, others do not. Some members include a substantial amount of Hebrew in the services they lead, while others use mostly English. Men and women participate fully and equally in services.
