Preparation for b’nai mitzvah is done on an individual basis, tailored to the needs and interests of each student. Building on the base of Hebrew learned in religious school classes, the student works with a tutor to learn their Torah portion and to build prayer competency; monthly meetings with our rabbi are also part of the preparation.
Together with the rabbi, the student leads much of the service, in addition to reading Torah and Haftarah. Adults as well as children are welcome to enter the process of becoming b’nai mitzvah. Each bar or bat mitzvah is a source of great joy for our whole community.
